Interactive Data Tool Tutorial

Welcome to the interactive data tool tutorial! This tutorial will provide you with an example of how to generate your own customized graphs. You will first need to decide if you would like to see the percentage of movers, stayers, and leavers for just one group of teachers or if you would like to compare the percentages of movers, stayers, and leavers for two groups. Let's start with an example of generating a graph to display the percentages for just one group (see Example 1).

Example 1—Suppose you are interested in the percentage of male physical education teachers who moved from, stayed in, and left Wisconsin. To display these results, you would use only the first option chart of the interactive data tool. The options you would click on would be: State—Wisconsin; Gender—Male; Ethnicity—All Ethnicities; Subject—Physical Education (see below).

Once you had selected these options, you would click on the submit button and a graph would automatically appear. In this example, the percentage of male physical education teachers who stayed, moved, and left Wisconsin would be displayed as shown below.
