Interactive Data Tool Tutorial

You can take the data tool a step further and compare two groups. Again start with the question of what you would like to compare (see Example 2).

Example 2 Are there gender differences in the percentage of movers, stayers, and leavers among special education teachers in the state of Illinois? To display these results, you would use both option charts of the interactive data tool. The options you would select in the first option chart would be: State Illinois; Gender Male; Ethnicity All Ethnicities; Subject Special Education. The options you would select in the second option chart would be the same, with the exception of gender. For gender, you would want to select Female.

Example

Once you submit your selections, a graph would automatically appear. In this example, a graph comparing the percentage of male and female special education teachers who stayed, moved, and left Illinois would be displayed as shown below.

Example graph for comparison

Sample size:
Illinois, Special Education, Female, All ethnicities: 825
Illinois, Special Education, Male, All ethnicities: 85
