Reminders for Team Facilitators

This brief checklist can help facilitators organize tasks to help form and start the school improvement planning team on its work.

Developing the Leadership Team

  • Invite the following participants:
    ___ The building principal
    ___ Teachers representing different grade levels or disciplines
    ___ Special education representative
    ___ Parent and/or community representatives
    ___ Pupil services representative
    ___ Curriculum and assessment leader from the school or district

  • Periodically assess the need for team-building activities.

Setting the Context

  • Complete the team self-assessment.
  • Make data collection and analysis a focus of every staff meeting.
  • Consider including data analysis responsibilities as part of staff evaluation criteria.
  • Periodically inform district administration and school board about the process.
